Job Description
Job Purpose
Will supervise the daily routine of youth residents with ability to maintain a healthy and safe environment. Will participate in planning, organizing and directing residents’ daily programs. Will supervise the daily work schedule for the group home/shelter care and coordinate activities for group home/shelter care operation.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Maintains a safe and healthy environment in the facility for the residents
· Supervises and directs house routine in compliance with established GH/SC policies
· Maintains behavioral norms for residents during assigned shifts
· Maintains appropriate daily log
· Administers medication and maintains medication records as required
· Performs intake functions when appropriate
· Maintains communication with youth’s families, school officials and referring agencies
· Transport of youths to various destinations as required
· Responds to medical emergencies and situations as trained
· Prepares and serves meals as required and in accordance with USDA guidelines
· Participates in annual staff training as required
· Manages the work schedule for the group home/shelter care facility
· Supervises activities of group home/shelter care leaders and other employees
· Serves as first contact for group home/shelter care leaders when there are questions or issues
· Admits new clients by reviewing records and applications; conducting orientations.
· Communicates clients' progress by conducting monthly interdisciplinary meetings and evaluations; disseminating results and obstacles to therapeutic team and family.
· Establishes treatment programs by setting schedules and routines; coordinating services being provided; arranging resources, including transportation and escort.
· Coordinates with Director when addressing daily operations
· Performs other tasks as required by the Director
Qualifications
High school graduate with some college preferred
Minimum three years’ experience working with youths in group activities or education and experience as approved by Director
Knowledge of theoretical framework for managing adolescents
Ability to work effectively under stress in a GH/SC environment
Ability to communicate effective, both orally and in writing
Ability to manage others in a stressful work environment
Certified in First Aid and CPR preferred
Valid Virginia Driver’s license
