Concept Artist - Crystal Dynamics - Redwood City, CA! Reports to: Creative Director and Art Director Managed by: Art Director Title Description The Concept Artist is responsible for working with the Creative Director and Art Director on the visual development of existing titles as well as new IP within the studio. The concept artist is expected to provide the teams with inspirational illustrations as well as production artwork, including character designs, environment and object exploration, paint overs, storyboards, color and lighting compositions. Essential Functions Work under the Creative Director and Art Director to develop concept artwork that defines the overall look and art style for the game. Assist in creating the style guide for the visual direction and language to be used throughout the project. Create concept designs and art direction materials for each project. Design a wide range of original concepts and subject matter, including characters, creatures, interior and exterior environments, vehicles, and objects. Create lighting, composition and mood, color studies, as well as storyboards. Work within different stylistic boundaries set by the Creative Director and Art Director. Produce inspirational, promotional, and marketing art. Collaborate with other team members in order to develop the visual direction for the game. Preferred Skills Arts related degree. Must have excellent 2D skills and traditional technical knowledge. An excellent understanding of anatomy, character design, color theory, perspective, lighting, and composition.
