Job Description

We, at Leggett & Platt Inc., are searching for a Traffic Manager at our Tracy, CA location to help support our Flooring business. Did you know Leggett & Platt Inc. is the largest manufacturer of carpet cushion and hard surface underlayment in the United States? Our Flooring businesses manufacture and distribute foam-, rubber-, and fiber-based flooring underlayment for residential and commercial use. Our flooring underlayment products provide support, cushioning, and noise reduction under virtually any finished flooring material in your home or business. If you join our team, your work will ensure people across the world have a little more comfort in their lives.

As a Traffic Manager, you will have the opportunity to direct and oversee transportation-related operations within the branch. Your contributions will have a direct impact on the business by ensuring our products are reaching customers with 100% customer satisfaction. The team you will be working with is personable and values the challenging work.

So, what will you be doing as a Traffic Manager?

  • Ensure that all employees adhere to State and Federal DOT and company safety policies
  • Keep records, logs, and schedules of all the transportation vehicles and drivers that are monitored and controlled by the branch
  • Coordinate the movement of all inbound/outbound equipment and freight from point of origin to destination
  • Consolidate freight orders into truckloads for specific destinations
  • Provide monthly branch reports as required
  • Responsible for monthly inventory of finished goods.
  • Responsible for the purchasing resale finished goods inventory.
  • Hire, train, and monitor all aspects of personnel in the traffic department
  • Maintain control of department expenses
  • Responsible for ensuring driver’s quarterly meetings are completed.
  • Complete Purchase Requisition for any expenditure.
  • understand contracts and capital projects in the traffic, shipping, and receiving areas of responsibility.
  • Work with vendors on equipment and personnel needs.
  • Monitor all aspects of employee performance

To Be Successful In This Role, You’ll Need

  • At least 5 years of experience as a transportation manager in a similar industry
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with team members and navigate stressful situations
  • Solid knowledge of State and Federal DOT regulations
  • Exceptional leadership skills
  • Geographical comprehension
  • Critical thinking skills and knowledge of analytics
  • Good conflict resolution skills
  • understand contracts and capital projects in the traffic, shipping, and receiving areas of responsibility.
