Operation Sports

We're expanding  Curveball , our sports-adjacent pop culture vertical, and we're hiring writers who know how to write for  NewsBreak .

Curveball covers the side of sports that lives off the field: athlete lifestyle, sports-related celebrities, relationships, culture, and timely stories that sit at the intersection of sports and pop culture. This role is ideal for writers who understand what resonates with the NewsBreak audience and can consistently turn trending sports moments into high-performing lifestyle content.

This is a remote freelance or hourly role, open to both part-time and full-time contributors depending on region.

What You'll Be Writing

• Sports-adjacent pop culture and athlete lifestyle stories
• Celebrity relationships, viral moments, controversies, and cultural conversations tied to sports
• Timely, trend-driven content optimized specifically for the  NewsBreak audience

What We're Looking For

• Proven experience writing  sports-adjacent pop culture or athlete lifestyle content
• Strong understanding of  NewsBreak's audience and content style
• Ability to write fast, clear, engaging stories with strong hooks
• Comfort working in a deadline-driven environment
• Familiarity with digital publishing best practices
• Answer this question in your cover letter: Do you always put the cart away after you are done shopping?

Nice to Have

• Previous experience writing for NewsBreak or similar aggregation platforms
• Background in sports, entertainment, or celebrity news
• Ability to spot trends early and pitch timely story ideas
