Job Description: Social Media Intern

Position Summary

The Social Media Intern will support the Village Project’s Stigma Reduction Campaign (SRC) by designing, publishing, and optimizing culturally relevant digital content across platforms. The intern will uplift youth-created messaging, support mental health awareness campaigns, and help drive engagement and visibility for SRC programs and events. This role is ideal for a creative, collaborative, and self-motivated communicator who is passionate about mental health and social change.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce weekly content for Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and the podcast aligned with SRC brand and storytelling goals.
  • Attend Thursday Youth Ambassador meetings to capture photos, short videos, and testimonials (with consent).
  • Co-design and execute social campaigns with ambassadors (e.g., Word of the Month, youth events, open mic nights) and maintain a consistent visual identity across social and print.
  • Edit and publish ambassador-generated assets (quotes, graphics, highlights) and short-form videos spotlighting youth, events, and campaign moments.
  • Manage the youth-led podcast end-to-end: recording logistics, sound editing, episode publishing; maintain the episode archive, content calendar, and distribution schedule.
  • Create podcast collateral: show notes, captions, social cutdowns, and scheduled announcements.
  • Monitor performance and compile basic reports on reach, engagement, and content effectiveness; recommend improvements.
  • Collaborate with the Outreach Coordinator and Project Director to ensure content is strategic, timely, and shareable.
  • Uphold youth dignity, privacy, and narrative control in all content.

Qualifications

Transition Aged-Youth Preferred

  • Demonstrated experience using social media for community engagement or creative storytelling
  • Design or editing skills using Canva, CapCut, Adobe, etc.
  • Experience with podcasting publishing and editing tools such as Rode caster Pro, Audition, Garage Band, and Experience with RSS
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; responsive to feedback and able to work independently
  • Available for 20 hours/week, including in-person attendance on Thursdays 4:00–6:00 PM in Seaside, CA

Compensation & Term

This is a part-time internship compensated anywhere from $22.50-24.50/hour. The role is funded through June 2026 Orientation and onboarding support will be provided.
