Job Description
Birch Agency is currently looking for an experienced Sign Language Interpreters for a elementary school opening for 2025/2026 school year in Berkeley County, SC This position is full time. You must have a 3.5 or higher EIPA .Relocation Assistance and Sign On Bonus up to 2,000.Pay is based on experience.
Job Responsibilities
Provide sign language interpretive services as specified in the IEP
Interpret information, lectures, discussion, classroom activities, school meetings, training and conferences
Prepare and study subject matter being taught or presented to ensure clear interpretation
Adapts interpretations to the varying and diverse needs and abilities of students, and/or teachers, and/or community members
Provides interpretation for various situations, such as assemblies, field trips, meetings, test administration, phone calls, music, extra-curricular activities, and sports events
Interprets informal conversations with students and staff during unstructured time
Participate as a team member for planning and reviewing daily activities, attending in-services and information sharing for the purpose of optimizing the staff and student participation in the educational environment
Provide staff with information regarding the interpretation process as well as needs and concerns of individuals who are D/HH for the purpose of creating a positive Deaf friendly climate
Collaborate with Teachers of the D/HH, other classroom teachers and other school staff to provide the optimum educational opportunities
Minimum Qualifications
Passed the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) with a score of at least 3.5 or be certified.
