Job Description

Snapshot / Role Overview
We're seeking a Senior Plumbing Estimator in Honolulu to lead cost analysis and bid development for complex commercial plumbing projects throughout Hawaii.

• Deliver accurate cost forecasting for unique projects including resort developments and high-rise construction

• Support Hawaii's construction boom through precise material and labor cost assessments

• Enable successful project delivery in challenging logistics environment with ocean shipping considerations

• Contribute to sustainable building practices through efficient plumbing system design and estimation

Responsibilities

• Analyze project plans and specifications for complex commercial plumbing systems including high-rise and resort facilities

• Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for plumbing, medical gas, and process piping installations

• Evaluate subcontractor proposals and coordinate with Hawaii-based vendors and suppliers

• Prepare comprehensive cost estimates accounting for island shipping costs and material logistics

• Lead preconstruction meetings with general contractors, architects, and engineers

• Develop value engineering solutions that optimize costs while meeting Hawaii building codes

• Maintain current databases of Hawaii-specific material costs, labor rates, and shipping considerations

• Coordinate inter-island project logistics and resource planning for multi-location developments

Requirements
Must-Haves

• 7+ years experience in commercial plumbing estimating with projects over $2M

• Strong knowledge of Hawaii plumbing codes, seismic requirements, and tropical climate considerations

• Proficiency with estimating software including Trimble QuickPen, Bluebeam, or similar platforms

• Experience with resort, hospitality, or high-rise construction project types

• Understanding of Hawaii construction logistics including shipping and material availability

Nice-to-Haves

• Hawaii contractor's license or reciprocity with mainland plumbing contractor credentials

• ASPE membership or Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) designation

• Experience with design-build delivery methods and integrated project teams
