Laboratory Assistant - Flex (Night Shift)

Palmetto General Hospital - Hialeah, FL

Position Summary

The Laboratory Assistant plays an essential role in supporting the daily operations of the hospital laboratory by assisting with specimen collection, processing, and distribution. This position ensures timely and accurate handling of laboratory specimens to maintain quality and efficiency in patient care.

Responsibilities:

• Collect, label, and process specimens according to established hospital and laboratory procedures.
• Assist technologists with sample preparation, centrifugation, and data entry.
• Deliver specimens to appropriate departments.
• Maintain laboratory supplies, equipment, and work areas in a clean and organized manner.
• Perform routine clerical duties including answering phones, logging specimens, and assisting with orders.
• Adhere to all infection control and safety policies.

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Completion of a phlebotomy or laboratory assistant program preferred.
• Experience: One (1) year of previous hospital or clinical laboratory experience preferred.
• Skills:
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of specimen handling and basic computer entry.
  • Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Must clear background and drug test required.
