Job Description

LaSalle Network is hiring on behalf of a growing technology startup based in downtown Chicago, seeking a Human Resources Generalist, due to growth.


The Human Resources Generalist will play a critical, hands-on role in supporting the employees and leaders across the full employee lifecycle. This position will have a strong focus on payroll administration, employee relations, and talent & culture initiatives, while also contributing to the development of scalable HR processes that support a growing technology organization.


Human Resources Generalist Responsibilities:

  • Own and administer bi-weekl payroll in partnership with Finance and external payroll providers

  • Ensure payroll accuracy, compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and timely processing

  • Manage employee data in HRIS systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality

  • Maintain HR policies, procedures, and documentation as the company scales
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for employees regarding HR-related questions, concerns, and workplace issues
  • Support managers with performance management, employee coaching, and conflict resolution

  • Help ensure consistent, fair, and legally compliant employee practices

  • Assist with investigations and documentation related to employee relations matters, as needed

  • Support recruiting efforts, including interview coordination, candidate experience, and onboarding

  • Partner with leadership to enhance employee engagement, culture, and retention initiatives

  • Contribute to diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives that reflect company values and business goals

  • Lead or support company-wide initiatives, events, and communications that strengthen culture and connection
Human Resources Generalist Requirements:
  • BA or higher level of education preferred
  • 3-6 years of experience in Human Resources, ideally in a startup or fast-growing technology environment
  • Hands-on experience with payroll administration and HR operations

  • Strong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices

  • Experience supporting employee relations and partnering with managers

  • Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism

  • Proactive, adaptable, and comfortable with ambiguity in a scaling organization

  • PHR or SHRM-CP certification preferred

  • Experience supporting culture or employee engagement programs from design to execution

This position is based in downtown Chicago and can pay between $100-115,000 with a discretionary bonus and benefits (health, dental, vision).
