Job Information Opening Date: 11/18/2025 12:00AM Central Time Closing Date: 12/01/2025 11:59PM Central Time Salary: $4,057.00 - $5,078.00 monthly ($48,684.00 - $60,936.00 annually) Job Type: Full-Time Location: Chattanooga, TN – potential to work from home up to 40% of the time Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university Or: Associate’s degree plus two years of full-time public safety experience Or: Three years as an Emergency Management Operations Officer with the State of Tennessee Substitution of experience for education (public safety related field) up to four years, year-for-year Overview This entry-level class in the Emergency Management District Coordinator sub-series involves training to implement, coordinate, and monitor emergency management programs with federal, state, local, and non-governmental stakeholders to protect lives and property. The role may require variable work schedules, 24‑hour on-call duty, and working in hazardous environments. An applicant will be reclassified (or flexed) to the next higher class after completing a mandatory two‑year training period. Responsibilities Receive training from a subject matter expert in emergency management to become a job expert or organization resource. Assist federal, state, local, and non‑governmental stakeholders in maintaining all‑hazards emergency management programs. Collaborate on workshops, conferences, seminars, and training courses, monitor training activities, and support instructor development. Support the Emergency Management District Coordinator 2 in coordinating and facilitating efficient disaster response and recovery. Maintain operational capability of assigned agency equipment, including daily operation of an emergency response vehicle. Prepare and compile various reports such as situation reports, updates, and requests for additional emergency assistance to the Emergency Operations Center.
