Custodian

Position Responsibilities:

• Keeps the buildings and property in clean and orderly condition.
• Perform routine maintenance activities.
• Perform heavy cleaning duties.
• Sweep, mop, scrub, or vacuum floors.
• Gather and empty trash.
• Scrub and sanitize restroom facilities. Fill paper products.
• Dust furniture, walls, and equipment.
• Clean windows, mirrors, and partitions with soap and other cleansers.
• Mix cleaning solutions and chemicals in containers in preparation for cleaning, according to instructions.
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power machinery to prevent damage to floors and fixtures.
• Clean and polish fixtures and furniture.
• Shampoo or steam-clean carpets and rugs.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies.
• Notify manager regarding the need for repairs or additions to building operating systems.
• Seasonal work of cutting the grass, raking and hedge clipping. Snow removal if needed.
• Provides occasional set up and cleaning of facilities for activities on parish property.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic math skills.
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and supply own vehicle with appropriate level of insurance (100,000-300,000-100,000).
• Must work collaboratively, professionally, cooperatively with staff, volunteers and committees.
• Ability to apply common sense when carrying out instructions furnished in written and oral form.
• Ability to change priorities in a positive and efficient manner, as needed, and complete tasks within reasonable timeframes.
• Ability to multi-task is a must.
• Flexibility to work adjusted hours for emergencies and special events.
• Must understand the English language in communicating both in written and verbal form.
• Must have a cell phone.
• Must complete the archdiocese “Safeguarding All God’s Family” program prior to employment including a criminal background check.
• Successfully complete parish/insurance company provided physical.
• Supply references upon request.

Notes

Full-time Hourly 40 hours per week. Non-Exempt. Position offers subsidized health insurance, paid holidays and several paid holy days. Paid vacation and sick time after probationary period. Paid pension plan initiated after vested. Pay range is $19.00 to $21.00 based on experience.
