Description:

The CFO is an integral member of senior leadership team and is expected to help lead the financial decision-making processes that are required for the successful attainment of the facility's operational and financial goals. The CFO provides leadership and direction to all hospital financial functional areas and assists the hospital's senior management team in managing the financial aspects of the enterprise.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Administers the general accounting, patient financial services, third party reimbursement, managed care contracting, and financial and statistical reporting functions
  2. Assists the hospital's senior leadership team in the development of long-term and short-term hospital operations plans, including analyzing service demands, resource availability analyses and cost benefit analyses of proposed capital expenditures
  3. Develops long and short-range operational and capital budgets, which are supported by the hospital's long and short range plans and objectives
  4. Prepares cash flow analyses and budget variance analyses
  5. Monitors, interprets and analyzes hospital financial performance in realizing established plans and objectives of the facility
  6. Identifies and reports desirable (or undesirable) trends and potential business opportunities, making recommendations for action
  7. Directs the preparation of internal financial reports and the annual financial auditing process
  8. Assures the timely and accurate preparation of financial reports, assuming accountability that the reports accurately reflect the hospital's financial position
  9. Participates as a leader in efforts to analyze and explore initiatives for increasing revenues and reducing operating costs, based on knowledge of and expertise with market trending, financial reports and operating procedures
  10. Responsible for the direction provided for and timely submission of all financial reports required by governmental and other regulatory agencies, including payroll tax reports, public disclosure reports and third party payor cost reports
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required
  • CPA and a Masters degree is preferred
  • Minimum of three years CFO experience in an acute care hospital or 5+ years in finance management in acure care.
  • Three years of progressive management experience in an investor-owned healthcare organization is preferred.
  • Ability to successfully balance time required to be spent on operational areas versus strategic management issues
  • Critical thinker who can juggle a number of high priority projects simultaneously
  • Strong, hands-on leaders who can motivate and inspire hospital stakeholders to achieve optimal results, while striving for high employee engagement and satisfaction levels
