Overview Jacksonville State University is accepting applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Political Science in the Department of Sociology and Political Science. The start date is Fall of 2026. This is a full-time, tenure-track position with a primary teaching focus, carrying a 4/4 teaching load. The successful candidate will have a background in Public Law and American government, with a strong foundation in law and legal studies. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses in Political Science with a focus on Public Law and American Government. The position carries a 4/4 teaching load. Required Qualifications Ph.D. in Political Science or closely related field, from an accredited university by the proposed start date. First field of study should be Public Law or American Government with the ability to teach law and legal studies at the undergraduate level. Willingness to teach in traditional, hybrid, and online modalities. Preferred Qualifications Demonstration of effective teaching (e.g., peer reviews, student evaluations, evidence of student success). Interest in mentoring undergraduate students, including LSAT preparation. Record of scholarly achievement (e.g., peer‑reviewed publication, conference presentation, and/or published journalism).
