We are seeking a dedicated Accessioner to join our team! The Accessioner will work closely with other laboratory staff providing support activities including specimen receipt, identification and processing, and maintaining the cleanliness of the workspace.

The hours are:

• Monday through Friday: 5:00 pm-2:00 am
• 1 Saturday per month

Responsibilities:

• Receive and process specimens consistent with specimen testing requirements including positive patient identification, appropriate specimen collection container, and specimen transport requirements
• Identify and accurately label specimens and distribute them to the appropriate testing area
• Perform clerical and administrative duties as needed
• Organize and maintain lab specimen storage and supplies for proper inventory
• Document and communicate any specimen non-conformities to Client Services and/or nursing home staff
• Clean and maintain work area and all lab equipment and supplies
• Comply with all health and safety regulations and laboratory protocol
• Assists all technical laboratory staff and leadership with additional duties as needed.

​ Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent; strong data entry skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred
• Experience as a lab assistant, specimen processor, or relevant experience in a lab is preferred
• Ability to build rapport with laboratory and nursing home staff
• Familiarity with medical software and equipment
• Strong organizational skills
• Maintain a clean and neat appearance and professional attitude
